Expert Interview Experience

Today's interview was informative, but did not go as planned due to technical issues.

An expert in the field of human development
Dr. Brenda Jones-Harden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Human Development at the University of Maryland College Park.  She has focused on the developmental needs of young children and how to meet those needs through early intervention.

Yea or Nay to infants watching television?
Dr. Jones-Harden had plenty to say about infants exposure to the television.  She spent time answering questions which asked about the affects that the television has on infants and if the television is beneficial to them in any way.

In response to those questions, Dr. Jones-Harden said that young children have a sensitive period in which the development of the brain can be greatly impacted.   She stated that there is no evidence which reveals that television is only bad for infants however, studies do show that the television can negatively impact infants.  According to her, the negative impacts are a result of violence on tv as well as the time the tv takes away from children activity.
